MAYNARD, Daisie F. — Graveside services for Daisie Maynard will be held
Friday, June 1, 2001 at 1 p.m. in the North Ferrisburg Cemetery. North
Ferrisburg. Arrangements are by the Ready Funeral Home.
 

SOUTH
BURLINGTON — SANDAGE, Barbara S. — Funeral services were held Friday,
June 1, at 11 a.m. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with
Bishop Wendell M. Gile officiating. The invocation was offered by Christopher
Norcross, grandson. Mrs. Sandage’s seven grandchildren sang ”Families Can Be
Together Forever.” A poem entitled ”Quail Run Road” was written and read by
daughter Chivas Sandage. Mrs. Sandage’s son-in-law, Jeff Davis, offered
remarks, and daughter Alda Norcross sang ”If”. Larry Sandage gave the eulogy
for his mother, and the benediction was given by granddaughter Barbara Sauer-Sandage.
Delegations were represented from numerous area advertising agencies, Essex
Community Education Center, and The Burlington Free Press. Interment was held
on Saturday, June 2, in Oaklawn Cemetery, Fairfield, Conn. Bearers were Larry
Sandage, Steve Norcross, Jeff Davis, Jeff Basch, Mike Wurth and Steve Vande
Griek. Arrangements were by Ready Funeral Home of Burlington.

 

ESSEX
JUNCTION — TESSMANN, Andrew — A memorial service will be held for
Andrew Tessmann on Friday, June 1 at 2 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church in
Essex Junction.

MORRISVILLE — LAMBERT, Rose M. — Graveside committal services for
Rose M. Lambert will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2001, in Pleasant
View Cemetery in Morrisville. Her death occurred Feb. 12. Arrangements are by
White-Fiess Funeral Home, Morrisville.

 

RUTLAND
— PAYNE, Reide B. — A Funeral Mass for Reide B. Payne, 76, who died
at his Rutland home April 9, 2001, will be said June 2 in St. Peter Church,
Convent Avenue, Rutland, at 11 a.m.

RATON, Fla./BURLINGTON — SCHELL, Ralph I. — A memorial service will
be held Saturday, June 2, 2001, at 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist
Church, 21 Buell St., Burlington. Corbin & Palmer Funeral Home, 71 Union St.,
Burlington is in charge of arrangements.

 


BURLINGTON — WILLETTE, Raymond F. — Funeral services were held
Saturday, June 2, 2001, at 1 p.m. with Father Thomas Ball officiating.
Interment followed in New Mount Calvary Cemetery with Father Ball conducting
the committal services. Bearers were Peter, Gary, Paul, Bruce, Jeff and Carl
Willette. Arrangements were by Elmwood-Meunier.

MIDDLEBURY – MANNING, Carol A. — The memorial service for Carol A.
Manning, 68, who died June 2, 2001, will be held Tuesday, June 5, at 11 a.m.
at Sanderson Funeral Service in Middlebury. The Rev. Leonard Rowell will
officiate. Friends may call today, June 4, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral
home.

TIMOTHY MULKIN The funeral services for Timothy Mulkin will be at St.
Mary’s Star of the Sea Church in Newport on Wednesday, June 6, at 11:00 a.m.
with the Rev. Leo Bilodeau and the Rev. Joy Toll-Chandler officiating.

HINESBURGH — PATRICK, A. Lincoln — A celebration of life was held for
A. Lincoln Patrick on Thursday, June 7, 2001, in the United Church of
Hinesburgh with the Rev. Gordon Mitchinson officiating. Scripture lessons were
proclaimed by daughter-in-law Betsy Patrick and his two granddaughters, Amy
and Meg Patrick. A poem was also shared by Meg Patrick. Area musicians
participating in the celebration were soprano Jill Levis, John Henzel,
organist; violinist Allison Anand, and pianists Carl Recchia and Pamela
Miller. His two granddaughters sang a duet, and Amy played the french horn.
Rufus Patrick, A. Lincoln’s son, recalled many wonderful and amusing tales
about his father. Many neighbors and friends also reflected on their fond
memories of ""Link.” The church was filled with members of the church,
Burlington High School and Edmunds Junior High School students and faculty,
IBM employees, Hinesburgh Middle School students and faculty, staff of Ruggles
House, Shelburne Museum employees, alumni of UVM, Hinesburgh business people,
former students of Mrs. Patrick and many neighbors. Gifford Funeral Service,
22 Depot St., Richmond, was in charge of arrangements.

MIDDLEBURY — COLE, Margaret — The memorial service for Margaret
Grierson Cole of Middlebury and formerly of Williamstown, Mass., who passed
away Jan. 26,, will be Friday, June 8, 2001, at 3 p.m. in the Middlebury
Congregational Church, corner of U.S. Route 7 and Main Street, Middlebury.
The Rev. David Andrews, pastor, will officiate.

 


BURLINGTON — McCARTHY, Laura D. Boucher — A Mass of Christian Burial
was celebrated Friday, June 8, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mark Roman Catholic
Church by the Rev. John Feltz. The pall was placed on her casket by her sons,
Douglas and David. The readings were proclaimed by her children, Richard,
Sylvia and David. The offertory gifts were presented by Lin Stang and Colleen
Carano, granddaughters. Words of remembrance were offered by her son, Raymond.
Attending was a delegation from Catholic Daughters of America, representatives
from Goodrich Aerospace, Ethan Allen Residence, St. Mark parishioners and many
relatives, friends and neighbors. Interment followed in New Mount Calvary
Cemetery with Father Feltz offering committal prayers. Bearers were Michael
McCarthy, Stephen Regan, Kelly Fletcher, Jodi McCathy, Karen Volker and
William Fletcher. Arrangements were by the Ready Funeral Home, North Chapel,
934 North Ave., Burlington.

 


BURLINGTON — MONAHAN, James R. Sr. — Funeral services were held
Friday, June 8, 2001, at 1:30 p.m. in the First Congregational Church in
Burlington with the Rev. Adrianne Carr officiating. Words of remembrance were
shared by James Monahan Jr. Music was provided by Dr. David Neiweem. Bearers
were Robert Monahan, Gary Monahan, Moe Bascom, Thomas Rotella, Frank Simms and
Paul Rocheleau. Graveside services were held Saturday, June 9, at 2 p.m. in
New Mount Calvary Cemetery with the Rev. Carr offering committal prayers. Full
military honors were accorded the deceased by the Vermont Air National Guard.
Arrangements were by the LaVigne Funeral Home, Winooski.

BURLINGTON — FERRO, Ernest E. — A Mass of Christian Burial was
celebrated Saturday, June 9, 2001, at 10 a.m. in Christ the King Catholic
Church by the Rev. Roland Rivard. Assisting him was the Rev. Deacon Louis
Meunier. Music was provided by Lois Desautels and Nancy Greene. Attending
were several relatives, friends and neighbors. Daughter-in-law Karen Ferro
and grandchildren Amy and David Ferro proclaimed the readings and
responsorial psalm. Granddaughters Amy Ferro, and Caroline, Lisa and Elaine
Limanek presented the offertory gifts. Lisa and Elaine were also altar
servers. The general intercessions were shared by his son-in-law, James
Limanek. Words of love and remembrance were given by Ernest’s son, Robert
Ferro, and his daughter, Suzanne Pacheco. Burial followed in Resurrection
Park Cemetery with the Rev. Rivard offering the committal prayers. Bearers
were his sons, Robert, Ernest, Joseph, James and Paul. Arrangements were by
Ready Funeral Service South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Road, Burlington.

 


HUNTINGTON — GORDON E. BRIGHAM — A graveside service will be held
Saturday, June 9, 2001, at 10 a.m. in Maple Wood Cemetery in Huntington with

ALBANS — JETTE, Richard — Committal services for Richard R. Dick
Jette, 73, who died Jan. 28, 2001, will be Saturday, June 9, at 2 p.m. in the
Jette lot in Greenwood Cemetery on South Main Street in St. Albans. Memorial
gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society, Vermont Division Inc., 13
Loomis St., Montpelier, Vt. 05602. A reception at the Owl Club, Congress
Street, St. Albans, will follow the committal service.

RICHMOND — KEEFE, James Earl — A Mass of Christian Burial was
celebrated Monday, June 11, 2001at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosart
Catholic Church, by the Rev. Ronald Benoit. Casey Keefe, nephew, read the
scripture lessons. Gale Hansen-Pateneaude, soloist, was accompanied on the
organ by Ann Barubault. The gifts were offered by Larry and Mary Keefe.
Burial took place in East End Cemetery, Williston, with Rev. Benoit
conducting the committal prayers. Bearers were nephews, Tim, Billy, Gary and
Chuck Keefe, Darcy Spence and Steve Barnier. Attending the service were
communicants of Holy Rosary Church, employees of UVM, IBM, former neighbors
and longtime friends. Omitted in the obituary notice were Pat Keefe, mother
of Carol and Thomas Keefe and Carol’s partner, Gary Shangraw. Gifford
Funeral Service, 22 Depot Street, Richmond, in charge of arrangements.

be held Monday, June 11, at 11 a.m. in St. Thomas Cemetery in Underhill with

BURLINGTON — LAPIERRE, William J. — A Mass of Christian Burial was
celebrated Tuesday, June 12, 2001, at 11 a.m. in Christ the King Roman
Catholic Church by the Rev. Roland Rivard, assisted by Deacon Louis Meunier.
The Crucifix was placed on his casket by his son, Nicholas. The offertory
gifts were presented by Nicholas. Words of Remembrance were offered by his
brother, Michael. Music was provided by Lois Desautels and Nancy Greene.
Attending were many relatives, friends, and neighbors. Interment followed in
the New Mount Calvary Cemetery with the Rev. Rivard reading committal
prayers. Bearers were his brothers, Michael, Robert and Steven, his sister,
Margaret; and close friends Peter Charboneau and Scott Belisle. Arrangements

WILLISTON — PARK, Elizabeth McBurney — A celebration of the life of
Elizabeth McBurney Park, 91, who passed away May 28, 2001, will be held at 3
p.m. Tuesday, June 12, in Williston Federated Church. Those who wish may make

BURLINGTON — BESSETTE, Arthur W. — A Mass of Christian Burial was
celebrated Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at 11 a.m. in St. John Vianney Catholic
Church by the Rev. John Hamilton. The readings were proclaimed by Cosmo
Gagnon. The offertory gifts were presented by Arthur’s grandchildren,
Jennifer Gagnon, Erika Bessette and Kristi Bessette, and great-granddaughter
Zoe Gagnon. Eucharistic minister was Janie Jacobson. Words of remembrance
were shared by Cosmo Gagnon. Music was provided by Nancy Greene and Lois
Desautels. Among the many attending the services was All-American Commander
Clifton E. LaPlante, Howard Plant Post 782. Interment followed in New Mount
Calvary Cemetery in Burlington with Father Hamilton offering committal
prayers. Full military honors were accorded the deceased by members of the
Vermont Air National Guard. Bearers were Arthur’s sons, James Bessette and
John ""Jack” Bessette, and Cosmo Gagnon, Patrick Whitehouse, Lenny
Whitehouse and Timothy Whitehouse. Arrangements were by the LaVigne Funeral
Home, Winooski.

 


BURLINGTON — BROTHERS, Jennifer — Memorial services were held
Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at 10 a.m. in Elmwood-Meunier funeral chapel, 97
Elmwood Ave., with Deacon Henry Furman officiating. A reading was delivered by
Melody Brothers, Jennifer’s mother-in-law. Interment followed in Lakeview
Cemetery with Deacon Furman conducting the committal service.

 


BURLINGTON — LeBLANC, Florence Y. — A Mass of Christian Burial was
celebrated Wednesday, June 13, 2001, in St. Mark Roman Catholic Church to
commemorate the life of Florence Y. LeBlanc. Celebrant was the Rev. John G.
Feltz of St. Mark Church. Many relatives, longstanding friends and neighbors
gathered for her Mass. Interment followed in Resurrection Park Cemetery in
South Burlington with Father Feltz offering committal prayers. Family members
served as bearers.

George L. — A Mass of Christian Burial for George Perrault, who died June
9, 2001, will be celebrated Wednesday, June 13 at 11 a.m. in the Ascension

BURLINGTON — WHITE, Arnold A. — Funeral services were held Wednesday,
June 13, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Corbin and Palmer Funeral Home,
71 S. Union St., with the Rev. Michael Hengle officiating. Memories were
shared by brother-in-law Ed Fenwick. Interment took place in the family lot in
Lakeview Cemetery with the Rev. Hengle conducting the committal prayers.
Bearers were grandchildren Robert, Marc, Jennifer and Jason White, also
Kenneth Hancock and Mickey McClintock. Attending the service were members of
North Avenue Alliance Church, Burlington School Department, and neighbors and

celebrated Thursday, June 14, 2001, at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Roman Catholic
Co-Cathedral by the Rev. Thomas Ball. Assisting was Deacon Henry Furman. The
pall was placed on the casket by grandchildren Phil Bissonnette and Michael
Lavallee. Readings were proclaimed by granddaughters Denise Sessoms and Yvonne
Nowell. The responsorial psalm was shared by Laurette LaChance and general
intercessions were read by Mary Hart, both granddaughters. Offertory gifts
were presented by Inez’s granddaughters, Irene Bissonnette and Leona Page.
Music was provided by organist Michelle Morin and soloist Celeste Hahn. Words
of remembrance were shared by her daughter, Georgianna Lavallee. In attendance
were many friends, neighbors, members of St. Joseph parish, the Secular 3rd
Order of Franciscans and the Confraternity of St. Joseph. Interment followed
in Lakeview Cemetery with Deacon Furman offering committal prayers. Bearers
were grandchildren Edward Bissonnette, Jeffrey Bissonnette, Lawrence
Bissonnette, Martin Lavallee, John Lavalee and Stephen Lavallee. Arrangements

JUNCTION — FLYNN, Conrad Peter — A largely attended Mass of
Christian Burial celebrating the life of Conrad Flynn was said Friday, June
15, 2001, at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Roman Catholic Church with the Rev.
Raymond Doherty, S.S.E., as the main celebrant. Concelebrating were
Monsignor John McSweeney, the Rev. Francis Prive, the Rev. Wendell Searles,
the Rev. Joseph Hart, S.S.E., the Rev. Michael Cronogue, S.S.E., the Rev.
Charles Davignon, the Rev. Richard VanderWeel, S.S.E., the Rev. Robert
McKnight, the Rev. Paul Couture, S.S.E., the Rev. Joseph McLaughlin, S.S.E.,
the Rev. Romeo Trahan, S.S.E., and the Rev. Richard Berube, S.S.E. Assisting
was Deacon Louis Meunier. Ushers were Clement Dubie and Michael Mitiguy. An
honor guard was provided by the 4th Degree members of the Knights of
Columbus. The pall was placed on the casket by Conrad’s son, Joseph Flynn,
and grandsons, Harrison and Nigel Flynn. Readings were proclaimed by
daughter-in-law Karen McCloud and granddaughter Kathleen Flynn. Music was
provided by family friend, organist Mary Lawlor, and bagpiper Thomas
Kirkpatrick. Words of remembrance were shared by Joseph Flynn. In attendance
were many friends, neighbors, members of Holy Family parish and
representatives from the Chittenden Bank, Vermont State Hazardous Material
Team, South Hero Fire Department, St. Michael’s Fire and Rescue and St.
Michael’s College, the Champlain Echoes, Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co., Lake
Wallace Sportsman Association and Knights of Columbus members from
throughout the state of Vermont. Interment followed in Resurrection Park
Cemetery with the Rev. Francis Prive offering committal prayers. Bearers
were Skip Farrell, James Antel, Kip Mathews, Chris Herrick, Scott Decatur
and William Baron. Arrangements were by Ready Funeral Home South Chapel,
Burlington.

 


WATERBURY CENTER — GRENIER, Roger A. Sr. — A Mass of Christian Burial
was celebrated from St. Andrew Catholic Church in Waterbury on Friday at 11
a.m. for Roger A. Grenier Sr., who passed away June 11, 2001. The Rev. Bernard
Bourgeois officiated. Organist John Colby led the congregation in singing the
hymns ""Amazing Grace,” ”How Great thou Art” and ""Peace is Flowing Like a
River.” Grandchildren Ryan, Allison and Megan Grenier presented the ofrtory
gifts. Charles Grenier and Donald Jerry proclaimed the readings. Son-in-law
David Ford was the eulogist. Bearers were Dwight Aseltine, David Aseltine,
Donald Jerry, Charles Grenier, David Grenier and Alec Baker. Interment
followed services in Waterbury Center Cemetery, where full military honors
were accorded by VFW Post 10034 of Waterbury and the Vermont Army National
Guard. Arrangements were in the care of the Perkins-Parker Funeral Home.

 


COLCHESTER — MUMMERT, Rose Elaine — A Mass of Christian Burial was
celebrated June 15, 2001, at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic
Church by the Rev. Francis Holland. Robert Mummert placed the church pall on
his wife’s casket during the opening prayers. There was a large gathering of
friends, neighbors and business associates in attendance at the Mass.
Interment followed in Resurrection Park Cemetery with Father Holland offering
the committal prayers. Bearers were Jon Mummert, Rose’s surviving son; Dennis
Milmore, Mike Maines, Harry Mummert, Gary Hutchins and Michael Bushey.

 
BURLINGTON — PROVOST,
Clemencia M. — A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m.
Friday in St. Joseph Co-Cathedral by the Rev. John Feltz. The pall was placed
on the casket by Clemencia’s nieces, Joan McCarthy and Janet Bushell. The
crucifix was placed on the casket by her niece, Patti Ra- cine. The readings
were proclaimed by Clemencia’s great-nephew, Michael McCarthy, and by Patti
Racine. The gifts were brought to the altar by her great-great-nieces,
Jeanelle and Heather Racine. Interment followed in New Mount Calvary Cemetery
with Father Feltz offering the committal prayers. Bearers were Scott Racine,
Michelle Hoffman, Michael McCarthy, Jodi McCarthy, Philip Bushell and Arthur
Bushell, all great-nieces and great-nephews. Arrangements were by Boucher and

LA MOTTE — ALLEN, Barbara J. — A memorial worship service in
celebration of the life of Barbara Allen will be held in the chapel of
Corbin & Palmer Funeral Home, 71 S. Union St., Burlington, Saturday June 16,
at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the American
Cancer Society, New England Division Inc. 11 Loomis St., Montpleier, Vt.
05602-3021 to be used for breast cancer research.

 

MILTON
— DeFORGE, Elizabeth — A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by
Father Ronald Soutiere, with Deacon Roger Lauziere assisting Saturday, June
16, 2001, at 10 a.m. in St. Ann Church. Representatives were present from
Arrowhead Senior Center and Champlain Valley Agency on Aging. Interment
followed in St. Luke Cemetery with Deacon Lauziere conducting the committal
service. A reception followed in the church hall, where the combined efforts
of the Ladies of the Church, Knights of Columbus and Squires, and Daughters of
Isabella rendered a truly delicious meal. Bearers were Kristy and Mark
Burnett, Earl Peno, Stan Lubinski, Dede Robair and James Goulette.
Arrangements were in the care of Elmwood-Meunier Funeral Home, Burlington.

 


BURLINGTON — McCAFFREY, Marion H. — Graveside services will be held
Saturday, June 16, 2001, at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Cemetery with the Rev. John
Feltz officiating. Arrangements are by the Ready Funeral Home.

 

GRACE
CLARA (GALE) RAND WOODSTOCK, Ga./HINESBURG — A memorial service for Grace
Clara (Gale) Rand, 88, formerly of Hinesburg, originally of Stowe, will be
held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2001, in the Stowe Community Church in
Stowe. Grace was the second daughter of Rufus and Grace Gale, residents of the
West Branch Road in Stowe. She was married to Ernest Benjamin Rand in 1936.
She is survived by her three children, Dr. Gale Emerson Rand of Great Falls,
Mont., Sara Lyn Peck of Woodstock, and Peter Fargo Rand of Woodstock; three
grandchildren, Alisa, Matthew and Katherine Gale. Clara now returns to her
beloved family in the West Branch Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to
attend a short service at the church, followed by a gathering at the home of
her beloved cousins, Emma Lou (Gale) and Paul Craig, Big Hollow Road,
Starksboro.

JUNCTION — HOLLAND, Douglas C. Jr. — A largely attended funeral
service was celebrated on Monday, June 18, 2001 at 2 p.m. in Grace United
Methodist Church in Essex Junction. Pastor Bob Lowenthal conducted the
service; music was provided by Marie Johnson. Burial followed in the family
lot in Village Cemetery, Essex Junction. Attending the service were
representatives from Essex Teen Center, C.H.I.P.S., Cub Scout Packs 630 and
637, Essex Police Department, Essex Junction Fire Department, VETA, and many
customers, friends, neighbors and residents of Essex Junction. Corbin &
Palmer Funeral Home, 9 Pleasant St., Essex Junction in charge of
arrangements.

 

ALAN
L LEMNAH ST. ALBANS — A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Alan
L. Lemnah on Monday, June 18, 2001, at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick Church in
Fairfield by Father Peter Williams. The first scripture reading was by Barbara
Branon, and the second reading by Kathleen Howrigan. Music was by organist and
soloist Mary Jo Gillilan. Attending were representatives of the Northwestern
Medical Center and Franklin County Home Health Agency. Bearers were his nephew
and godson, Larry Bovat, nephews Michael Lemnah, Robert Bovat, Robert
Reynolds, and friends, William Sweeney and Kevin Flint. Following prayers of
committal by Father Williams, interment was in the Lemnah family lot in St.
George’s Cemetery in Bakersfield. On Sunday evening, Father Williams held a
Christian wake service with Alan’s family in the Brady & Levesque Funeral
Home.

 

ESSEX

celebrated Monday, June 18, 2001, at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church in Essex
Junction, by the Rev. Francis Holland. Altar servers were Gene O’Neil and
Angelo Sarlano. Music was provided by organist Marguerite Meunier. Readings
were proclaimed by his nephew, Charles D. Miller and daughter, Mary Anne
Miller. Offertory gifts were brought to the altar by Mr. Miller’s
grandchildren, Christian and Victoria Miller. Words of remembrance were shared
by his son, Charles P. Miller Jr. Burial followed in the family lot in
Resurrection Park Cemetery in South Burlington. Bearers were his son, Charles
P. Miller, Jr., grandson, Christian Miller, nephews, Charles D. Miller, Russ

— RENAUD, Alice Grace (Bernard) — A Mass of Christian Burial was
celebrated Monday, June 18, 2001, at 3 p.m. in St. Francis Xavier Catholic
Church in Winooski by the Rev. Benedit Kiely. Concelebrating the Mass was the
Rev. Francis Connors. The acolyte was Dwight Baker. The readings were
proclaimed by Madeleine Renaud and Rachel Renaud Wurtsbaugh. The cantor was
Monique Renaud Martin. The offertory gifts were presented by Roland Renaud,
Arthur Renaud, and Michel Renaud. The organist was Philippe Lemieux. The
eulogy was shared with the many in attendance by Alice’s daughter, Patricia
Renaud Ribolini. Graveside services were held Tuesday, June 19, at 11 a.m. in
Fairview Cemetery in Hardwick with the Rev. Michael Augustinowitz offering
committal prayers. Bearers were Gary Gutchel, Jim Martin, Bob Smith, Randy
Wurtsbaugh and Steve Ribolini. Arrangements were by the LaVigne Funeral Home,

in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery with Dwight Baker offering committal prayers.

JUNCTION — MURPHY, Michael Sean — A largely attended Mass of
Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at 11 a.m. in St.
Lawrence Roman Catholic Church by the Rev. Paul St. James. Concelebrating was
the Rev. Roland Rivard with Deacon Louis Meunier and Deacon Carl Shelton
assisting. The readings were proclaimed by Kevin McLaughlin and Lauren
McLaughlin. The offertory gifts were presented by Ryan McLaughlin, Peter
Murphy and Christin Murphy. Words of remembrance and thank you were by his
wife, Lisa White Murphy. Attending were several faculty, staff and students of
Essex High School, and many relatives, friends and neighbors. Interment
followed in Holy Cross Cemetery with Father St. James reading committal
prayers. Bearers were Brian Rudnick, Michael Paskevich, Darryl Meunier,
Michael Shortsleeve, Rob Hesford and Ritchie Abbott. Arrangements were by the

— FREGEAU, Jerome ""Joe — A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated
Thursday, June 21, 2001, at 11 a.m. in St. Stephens Catholic Church in
Winooski with Rev. Jay Haskin officiating with Rev. Louis Meunier. The
Readings were proclaimed by Diane Potvin. The altar server was Jeff Buehner.
The music was by Celia Kenyon Asbell. Among the many in attendance were
delegations from the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Knights of Columbus, Yankee
Plumbing, Myers Containers and Construction Co. and Vermont Gas. Interment
followed in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery with Rev. Haskin offering
committal prayers. Full military honors were accorded the deceased by members
of the Vermont Army National Guard. The Final Alarm was accorded the deceased
by members of the Winooski Fire Department and Mallets Bay Fire Department. As
escort was provided by Winooski Police Chief Steve McQueen and the Winooski
Police Department. Bearers were members of the Winooski Fire Department, Chief
David Bergeron, Captain Mike Henry, Lieutenant A. J. Leclair and firefighters
George Gamelin, Julie Bergeron, Erika Greenough and Mike Hatch. Arrangements

UNDERHILL CENTER — CROSS, Armand James — A largely attended Mass of
Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, June 23, 2001, at 12:30 p.m. in
St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church by the Rev. Francis Prive. The pall was
placed on his casket by his daughters, Cindy, Linda, Judy and Nancy. The
crucifix was placed by his wife, Yvonne Bourgeois Cross. The readings were
proclaimed by Margaret Pratt, a niece, and Amy Parisi, a friend. The prayer
of the faithful was recited by his daughter, Nancy. The offertory gifts were
presented by Josh Bourgeois, Caleb Bourgeois, and Adam Bourgeois,
great-nephews, and Michelle Bourgeois, a great-niece. Words of remembrance
were offered by his daughter, Linda. Music was provided by the St. Thomas
Music Ministry and members of St. Lawrence Music Ministry. Present was an
honor guard from Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. Attending were many
relatives, friends and neighbors, and parishioners of St. Thomas. Bearers
were Steven Bourgeois, Bruce Bourgeois, Wally Troescher, Robert Bessette,
Michael Cross and William Troescher, all nephews. Omitted from his obituary
was that he is also survived by a grandchild, Jesse Cross. Arrangements were
by the Ready Funeral Home, Mountain View Chapel, 68 Pinecrest Drive, Essex
Junction.

for Josephine K. Divoll, of Rockingham Hill Rd. who died March 5, 2001 on
Saturday, June 23 at 2:30 p.m. in the Rockingham Meeting House.

— MC LAUGHLIN, Dalton Darby — A memorial worship service in
celebration of the life of Dalton Darby McLaughlin who died Dec. 1, 2000, in
Dowling Park Florida, will be at the Milton United Church, Saturday, June 23,
at 11 a.m. Interment will follow immediately in the Milton Village Cemetery.

 


MIDDLEBURY — MOODY, Beatrice Grasso — A graveside committal service
will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 23, 2001, in Lakeview Cemetery for
Beatrice Grasso Moody who died in Middlebury on Jan. 8. Arrangements are by

— MORIN, Lodia Dora — A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated

celebrated by Father Raymond Doherty, S.S.E., on Monday at 1 p.m. in St.
Joseph Co-Cathedral. The readings were proclaimed by Denise Cordoba and
Alice LeBlanc. Gift presenters were Howard and Mary Gover, and words of
remembrance were shared by Kim Savory and Greg Payea. Interment followed in
St. Joseph Cemetery with Father Stephen Hornat, S.S.E., conducting the
committal services. Bearers were uncle Robert Benoit, brother-in-law Joseph
Payea, nephews Greg and John Payea, and friends Jordan Derderian and Tim

VERGENNES — RIPLEY, Olivia Frances — The graveside committal service
and burial for Olivia Frances Ripley, 85, who passed away June 21, 2001, will
be held Monday, June 25, at 3 p.m. in the family lot in St. Mary Cemetery in
Middlebury. The Rev. Dennis Breton, pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church, will
officiate. Sanderson Funeral Service of Middlebury is in charge of

the casket by nieces Arlene McMullin and Janet Kuryla and nephew Leo Desilets.
The readings were proclaimed by niece Marie Dion. Burial followed in

committal prayers. Bearers were great-nephews Ernest, Robert and Daniel

COLCHESTER — LeBLANC, Elizabeth ""Betty” — A Mass of Christian
Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church
by the Rev. Roger Charbonneau. The pall was placed on the casket by Betty’s
granddaughters, Coleen Schnabel and Melissa Carey. Betty’s daughter, Gail
LeBlanc-Porter, placed the crucifix on the casket. The readers were Brian
Wrigley, a nephew, and Kathleen Carty-Couture, a niece. The gifts were brought
to the altar by Cassandra Bouchard and Karen Carty, nieces. A special eulogy
was given by Lee Wrigley, Betty’s nephew. Interment followed in Holy Cross
Cemetery with Father Charbonneau offering the committal prayers. The bearers
were Brian Wrigley, Brian and Howard Bouchard, and Kenneth, Kyle, and Kevin
Carty. Arrangements were by Boucher and Pritchard Funeral Directors.

 


GEORGIA — NEWTON, Janice Skeels — A memorial service for Janice
Skeels Newton, 77, who died June 7, 2001, will be held Tuesday, June 26, at
11 a.m. in the Georgia United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kelly Warner
officiating. Interment will follow in the Georgia Plains Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday, June 25, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Heald

Wise and Katie Daigneault. The offertory gifts were presented by Erica and
Justin Dubuque and Chelsea and Tony Graziano. Music was provided by Nancy
Greene and Lois Desautels. Words of remembrance were shared with the many in
attendance by Al Hunton with a poem following by Jennifer Gauthier.
Interment followed in Resurrection Park Cemetery with Deacon Lane offering
committal prayers. Honorary bearers were Merrill Jarvis, Lance McKee, Tom
Burns, Craig Hill, Doug Carruthers, Terry McGrath, Jerry Rafoul, Al Hunton,
Steve Menard and Daniel Gilbert. Arrangements were by the LaVigne Funeral

BURLINGTON — BOUCHARD Emerson J. — A Mass of Christian Burial was
concelebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. Mark Church by Father John Feltz,
celebrant, and Father Roger Charbonneau, concelebrant. The readings were
proclaimed by Sister Marie Feely, and the gifts were presented by Mr.
Bouchard’s grandsons, Todd, Jason, Greg and Chad Bouchard. Brian Bouchard, his
son, was a eucharistic minister and delivered his father’s eulogy. A
contingent from the Burlington Fire Deptartment formed an honor guard, and
delegations were present from the Chittenden Bank and Starr Farm Nursing
Center. Interment followed in Resurrection Park Cemetery in South Burlington,
where Fathers Feltz and Charbonneau conducted the committal service. Full
military honors were then accorded by the Vermont Air National Guard.
Arrangements were by Elmwood-Meunier.

 


HINESBURG — GILBERT, Ernest Lee — A largely attended Mass of
Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday, June 28, 2001, at 11 a.m. in St.
Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church in Winooski by the Rev. Gerald Ragis.
Music was provided by Our Lady of Mount Carmel Folk Group. Words of
remembrance were offered by Leann Winters, Scott Ireland and Jeanie Gracey-Barlow.
Interment services were held Friday, June 29, at 2 p.m. in North Fairfield
Cemetery with Father Michael Higgins offering committal prayers. Music was
provided by bagpiper Tom Kirkpatrick. Full military honors were accorded with
the American flag being folded and presented to Ernest’s daughter, Kristina,
by the Vermont Air National Guard. Bearers were Scott Gilbert, Derek Gilbert,
Tom Sheppard, Scott Ireland, Jeff Menard and Jim Johnson. Arrangements were by
the Ready Funeral Home Mountain View Chapel, 68 Pinecrest Drive, Essex
Junction.

ALBANS — CORLISS, Robert B. — Funeral services for Robert B.
Corliss, who died June 26, 2001, were held Friday, June 29, at 11 a.m. in
St. Paul’s United Methodist Church with the Rev. Oren Lane officiating.
Scriptures were read by Robert’s brother-in-law, the Rev. Stanley Fry.
Organist and pianist was Mary Barker Roby with a special vocal solo,
""Softly and Tenderly” by Joni Bohannon. At the recessional, the casket and
family passed through an honor guard formed by members of the veterans
organizations honoring the deceased World War II U.S. Army veteran. A
luncheon was served by the ladies of St. Paul’s. Burial was at 2 p.m. in the
Corliss lot in Riverside Cemetery in Swanton with Pastor Lane offering
committal prayers. The American flag was presented to Bob’s two sisters,
Betty and Edith, by Curtis Brown representing the veterans organizations.
Casket bearers were Robert’s nephews, David and Tim Morrison, Albert Norman,
Kevin and Peter Fry, and Robert’s very good friend, Elmer Bigelow. Assisting
with the ushering was Jim Fendley. In attendance were representatives of The
Green Mountain Club, Phi Alpha Class of the church, Circle Five, United
Methodist Women, Franklin Lodge 4, F&AM, Mount Sinai Temple 3, AAONMS,
Northern Vermont Shrine Club, Franklin and Lamoille County Retired Teachers
Association, Vermont Retired Teachers Association, Autonoe Club, former St.
Albans town officials and Swanton Road neighbors. A well-attended Masonic
funeral service was held Thursday evening at the funeral home with Robert
Coon as Worshipful Master and Roger Spaulding as Chaplain. Arrangements were
by the Heald Funeral Home, St. Albans.

 

ESSEX
JUNCTION — FITZ, Oscar — Funeral services were held Friday, June 29,
2001, at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of Corbin and Palmer Funeral Home, 9
Pleasant St., Essex Junction, with the Rev. Roger Charbonneau and the Rev.
Jeffrey Jensen officiating. Grandson Michael Fitz shared fond memories of his
grandfather. Burial took place in the family lot in Lakeview Cemetery with the
Rev. Charbonneau conducting the committal prayers. Bearers were grandchildren
Mark Fitz, Michael Fitz and Betsy Lesage, and family members Lynda Fitz, Steve
Lajeunesse and Charles Gallagher. Attending the service were communicants of
Community Lutheran Church and Holy Cross Church, Essex Junction Lions Club,
B.P.O.E. 916, former patrons, neighbors and friends. Arrangements were by
Corbin and Palmer Funeral Home, Essex Junction.

 
SOUTH BURLINGTON –
PALOCZ, Endre G. — A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday, June
29, 2001, at 1 p.m. in St. John Vianney Catholic Church by the Rev. Francis
Holland. Assisting with the Mass was Deacon Joseph Lane. The readings were
proclaimed by Beatrice Buechler. Music was provided by Nancy Greene and Sharon
Angolano. The Hungarian national anthem was played as the recessional hymn.
Interment followed in Resurrection Park Cemetery with Father Holland and
Deacon Lane offering committal prayers. Bearers were Bill Leipold, Peter
Lengyel, Tom Motsiff, Bill Strolin, Chris Strolin and Bill Motsiff.

The offertory gifts were presented by Joseph Bessette and his wife, Joyce,
Craig Bessette and Stacy Turner. Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery with
Father Charbonneau offering committal prayers Bearers were Craig Bessette,
Mark Abell, Roger Wolcott, Hugh Raymond, Carrie Raymond and Lori Collins.

KELLEY, David E. — A memorial service celebrating the life of David Emery
Kelley, formerly of 24 Forest Road, Essex Junction, who passed away May 26,
2001, will be held in the First Congregational Church on Main Street in Essex
Junction at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 30. The Rev. Karen Hagy, niece of the

Elmer Arthur — A funeral service was held Saturday, June 30, 2001, at 1
p.m. for Elmer Matthews in the chapel of Corbin and Palmer Funeral home in
Essex. Burial followed in Mountain View Cemetery in Essex Center with the Rev.
Smith conducting the committal prayers. Music was provided by June Packard,
organist. Bearers were Arthur and Lee Bristol, Nathan, Alan, Jasan and
Jonathan Matthews, and Eric, Brian and Randall Cheney, all grandson of Mr.
Matthews. Attending were Essex United Methodist church members, area farmers,
