as printed in the National Genealogical Society Quarterly, Volume 15

By Miss Helen R. Manion, Washington DC

The following family record is taken from a Bible published by Silas Andrus, Hartford, Conn., in 1831, now owned by David S. Wilder of Attica, Wyoming County, N.Y. Some years ago, Mr. Wilder copied the data from other bibles owned in the family into the one now in his possession:

"Kendall Wilder moved from Vermont in the early winter of 1819 and was the third settler in Cuba township (Allegany County), N.Y. The first year he kept "Bachellor’s Hall" and in 1820 married Laura, daughter of Francis and Mary (Stone) Stevens, natives of Massachusetts and early settlers of Lima, N.Y. Calvin and Polly Wilder, parents of Kendall, were natives of Vermont and later were residents of Crawford County, Pa."
