WINOOSKI — DION, Frank J. — A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, May 1, 2000 at 10 am in the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Winooski with the Rev. Richard Lavalley officiating. Con-Celebrating the Mass was Rev. Joseph McCarthy. The Readings were by Thomas Kane and Father McCarthy. The music was by Lucille Dupont. Interment followed in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery with Father Lavalley and Father McCarthy offering committal prayers. Full military honors were accorded the deceased by members of the Vermont Army National Guard. Bearers were Jim Myers, Tom Langlois, John Langlois, John Crowley, Douglas Crowley, and Marty Crowley. Arrangements were by the LaVigne Funeral Home, Winooski.
ESSEX JUNCTION — QUINTIN, Phillip — A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, May 1, 2000, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Pius Catholic Church with the Rev. William Giroux officiating. Concelebrants were the Rev. Peter Rousseau and the Rev. Paul Couture, S.S.E. The readings were proclaimed by Arthur LaRue. The music was provided by Lilly Ramsey and Rose Bacon. Interment followed in St. Luke’s Cemetery in Fairfax with Father Giroux offering committal prayers. Bearers were Steve Quintin, Larry Quintin, Richard Parrow, Norman Parrow, Joshua Robtoy and Brian Maxham. Arrangements were by the LaVigne Funeral Home, Winooski.

BURLINGTON — FERRAND, Doris — Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Corbin and Palmer Funeral Home, 71 South Union St., Burlington, with the Rev. David Murphy of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Friends shared their fond memories of Doris. Burial took place in Lakeview Cemetery with the Rev. Murphy conducting the committal prayers. Bearers were Kevin Myers, Greg and Jim Burbo, Bill Coon, George Jimmo, and John Quinn. Attending the services were members of Beatrice Rebekah Lodge No. 60, retired employees of the Howard Bank and former neighbors.

BURLINGTON — FITZGERALD, Martin R. — A largely attended Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at 11:30 a.m. in Christ the King Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Roland Rivard officiating. Concelebrant was the Rev. Michael DeForge, assisted by Deacon Louis Meunier. The crucifix was placed on his casket by his wife, Nancy Brynn Fitzgerald. The Liturgy of the Word was proclaimed by his niece, Kathy Reiff, and by his son-in-law, John Mahoney. The homily was given by Father Rivard. The prayers of the faithful were offered by his nephew, Stephen Brynn. The offertory gifts were presented by his nephew and nieces, Tom Fitzgerald, Barbara Lamb and Maura Dean. Memories of ""Marty” were shared by his friend, James Leddy, and by his children, Michael, Kelly, and Dan. Eucharistic ministers were his brother-in-law, Walter Hogan, and his sister-in-law, Sue Brynn. Music was provided by Dna Foster. Attending were many, many friends, relatives and neighbors. Interment followed in Resurrection Park Cemetery in South Burlington with Father Rivard offering committal prayers. Bearers were his close friends, James Leddy, James Reuschel, John Henry, Thomas Breiner, Thomas Perras, James LaPlant, Gerald Desautels, and John Mahoney. Arrangements were by the Ready Funeral Home South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Road.
SHELBURNE/NOYAN, QUEBEC — HARDY, Ruth May — A celebration of the life of Ruth May Hardy was held on Wednesday, May 3, 2000 at 2:00 p.m in Saint Thomas Anglican Church in Noyan, Quebec. Officiating was the rector, The Reverend Linda F. Chalk. Reverend Chalk also served as the organist. Interment followed in the family lot in Saint Thomas Cemetery with Reverend Chalk reading the committal prayers. The bearers were Richard, Donald, and Gary Young, Tim Hurteau, David Kenyon and Peter Machia.
SOUTH BURLINGTON — KEHOE, Edward F. — A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at 10:30 a.m. in St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. John Hamilton as the main celebrant. Concelebrating was the Rev. Wendell Searles. Assisting was Deacon Joseph Lane. Readings were proclaimed by grandchildren Allyson Jarry and Erica Jarry. Offertory gifts were presented by Ed’s grandchildren, Ashley Moirano, Stephen Beck, Rachael Beck, Patrick DeForge, and Katie DeForge. Music was provided by soloist Nancy Greene and organist Yvonne Gravelin. In attendance were many friends, members of St. John Vianney parish and delegations from Vermont Fish & Wildlife. Words of remembrance were offered by former Vermont Governor Phil Hoff, Vermont Fish & Wildlife Commissioner Ronald Regan, and daughters Stephanie Armstrong and Sandra Beck. Interment followed in Resurrection Park Cemetery with the Rev. Hamilton and Deacon Lane reading committal prayers. Full military honors were accorded by the Vermont Air National Guard with the U.S. flag being presented to Edward’s wife, Pauline Kehoe. The closing hymn was played by the traditional lone Scottish bagpiper, Robert McEwing. Bearers were wardens of the Vermont Fish & Wildlife, Detail Leader Lt. Robert Rooks, Lt. Thomas Stearns, Lt. Dane Hathaway, Warden James Patch, Warden Norm Brown, Warden David Rowden, and Warden Philip Howland. Arrangements were by Ready Funeral Home South Chapel, Burlington.

WAITSFIELD — GAYLORD, Eloise G. — The committal service for Eloise G. Gaylord, who passed away Feb. 3, 2000, will be held Thursday, May 4, 2000, at 11 a.m. in the Warren Village Cemetery. The Perkins-Parker Funeral Home in Waterbury is in charge of arrangements.

SOUTH BURLINGTON — CLARK, George E. — Committal services, with full military honors, will be held Friday May 5, 2000 at 11 a.m. in the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center for George E. Clark, husband of Althea (Averill) Clark. Mr. Clark died suddenly in Burlington on August 11, 1999. Corbin & Palmer Funeral Home, Burlington is in charge of arrangements.
SOUTH BURLINGTON — STODDARD, Mildred Agnes — Burial will take place in South Duxbury Cemetery on Friday, May 5, 2000 at 9:30 a.m. for Mildred Agnes Stoddard, widow of Hugh Stoddard who died on March 1, 2000 in Burlington. Arrangements are by Corbin & Palmer Funeral Home, Burlington.

DOROTHEA M. BOWER JERICHO — Dorothea M. Bower, age 101, who died Wednesday, March 22, 2000 in Jericho, will be intered at the Riverbank Cemetery in Stowe at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2000. The Rev. David U. Rinehart will officiate the graveside service. The Stafford Funeral Home in Stowe is in charge of arrangements.
WILLISTON — BRENNAN, James L. — A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, May 6, 2000, at noon in Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Donald Ravey officiating. An honor guard was provided by the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree. The altar server was Roger Ross. Music was provided by Jeff Firlik. The readings were proclaimed by niece Anne Marie Mulligan and nephews Ted Horton. The offertory gifts were presented by nieces Mary Horton, Martha Shea and Amanda Horton. The Irish Blessing was read by niece Kathy Horton. Attending were delegations from IBM in Essex Junction and from The Arbors in Shelburne. Burial followed in Resurrection Park Cemetery with Father Ravey offering committal prayers. The Knights of Columbus acting as pallbearers were Past Grand Knight and Present Vermont State Deputy Dominic Dicico, Past Grand Knight Robert Belanger, Past Grand Knight Leo Gavin, Past Grand Knight Don Lawrence, Third and fourth Degree member Phil Noel, and Third Degree member and president of Home Association Ken Commo. Arrangements were by the Ready Funeral Home Mountain View Chapel 68 Pinecrest Drive, Essex Junction.
LORA R. FOOTE CORNWALL — The funeral service for Lora R. Foote, who passed away February 6, 2000 will be held Saturday , May 6, 2000 at 2:30 p.m. in the Cornwall Congregational Church. The Rev. Anne Hancock will officiate. Interment and committal service will follow in the family lot in the Cornwall Central Cemetery. Friends may pay their respecets from 2 p.m. until service time at the church hall. WINOOSKI — BISSONNETTE, Leo A. — A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, May 8, 2000, at 11 a.m. in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Winooski with the Rev. Richard Lavalley officiating. Concelebrating the Mass was the Rev. John Milanese. The readings were proclaimed by Mr. Thomas Kane. the offertory gifts were presented by Leo’s granddaughters, Denise Campbell, Dawna Messier and Julie Labbay. Special memories of Leo were shared with the many in attendance by his son-in-law, Bruce Kelley. The music was provided by Noreen Pelchat. Among the many in attendance were representatives from the Daughters of Isabella, Vermont and New Hampshire circles; Knights of Columbus, V.F.W. and Women’s Auxiliary, Blodgett Supply, Belden Wire, Myers Construction, Vermont Student Assistance Corp., IBM, UVM, Friendly’s, Pycon and the Lions Club of Essex. Interment was Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at 10 a.m. in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery with Father Lavalley offering committal prayers. Full military honors were accorded the deceased by members of the Vermont Air National Guard. The flag detail was by Leo’s grandsons, Dennis Belisle, Jeffrey Bissonnette and James LaFountain with the American flag presented to Leo’s wife, Yvonne, by Bruce Kelley. Bearers were Leo’s grandsons, Scott Myers, Dennis Belisle, Todd Perry, Jeffrey Bissonnette, Michael Kelley, David Bissonnette, James LaFountain and Justin Bissonnette. Angell, bishop of Burlington, as the main celebrant. Concelebrating were the Rev. Monsignor John McSweeney, V.G.; the Rev. Charles Davignon, the Rev. Jay Haskin, the Rev. Richard Lavalley, the Rev. Michael Deforge and the Rev. John McDermott. The masters of ceremony were the Rev. Walter Miller and the Rev. Gerald Bombardier. Music was provided by organist and soloist Gary Moreau. The readings were proclaimed by Adele Eide and Tom Harty. The offertory gifts were presented by Arthur and Helen Hogan and Mary Ann Coburn. Attending were delegations from the Bishop Brady Center/Catholic Dioceses of Burlington, the Society of St. Edmund, the Chittenden County Historical Society, the University of Vermont, St. Mark’s Library Board, the Sisters of Mercy and many friends and parishioners of St. Mark’s Church. Burial will be in the family lot in St. Charles Cemetery in Bellows Falls at a later date. Arrangements were by the Ready Funeral Home South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Road, Burlington.

HINESBURG — CHARLAND, Patricia M. ""Theresa” –– The graveside committal service that was scheduled to be held today, May 11, 2000, at 10 a.m. in Hinesburg Village Cemetery has been canceled due to a decision made by the Hinesburg Cemetery Commission to close the cemetery due to weather conditions caused by the recent storms. A notice will be published in the Burlington Free Press when the service is rescheduled. Gifford Funeral Service, 22 Depot St., Richmond, is in charge of arrangements.

Music was provided by the Holy Family Choir of Christian Burial under the direction of Marguerite Meunier. Deacon Louis Meunier. The pall was placed on Colette’s casket by her aunt, Madeline Murphy, and cousin, Patrick Murphy. The readings were proclaimed by Colette’s high school friend, Teri Piersall. Colette’s cousins, Mary Ann Burke, Patty Thibodeau and Beth Desautels, presented the offertory gifts. Words of love and remembrance were shared by her special friend, Teri Piersall, and her special college roommates, Laura Wildman, Karen Spiller and Rachel Dimitrik. Attending were friends, neighbors, parishioners of St. Anthony’s and representatives from Fidelity Investments, Boston, Mass.; Liberty Mutual and the National Alliance of the Mentally Ill of Vermont. Burial followed in Resurrection Park Cemetery in South Burlington with the Rev. Rivard and Deacon Meunier offering the committal prayers. CORRECTION MIDDLEBURY – COLLINS, Leora Place – Visiting hours for Leora Place Collins, who died May 8, 2000 at the Helen Porter Nursing Home in Middlebury, will be held Monday, May 15, 2000 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the funeral chapel of Corbin & Palmer, 209 Falls Road, Shelburne. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2000, in the North Ferrisburgh Methodist Church, Old Hollow Road, North Ferrisburg, following a private family burial in Prospect Cemetery in Vergennes.
WINOOSKI GUNTHER, Paul — A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, May 15, 2000 at 11 am in St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Winooski, with the Rev. Gerald Bombardier officiating. The readings were given by Paul Goldman and Sandy Croistiere. The music was by Celia Kenyon. The offertory gifts were presented by Katie Benjamin, Sarah Cromie and Matthew Cromie. Words of remembrance were shared by Raymond Clavelle. Interment followed in St. Stephen’s Cemetery with Father Bombardier offering committal prayers. Memories of Mr. Gunther were also shared in the cemetery by Sarah Benjamin, Mark Benjamin, and Paul Goldman. Bearers were Brian Duprat, David Duprat, Matthew Cromie, Scott Benjamin, Paul Goldman, and E. Bernard Roy. Arrangements were by the LaVigne Funeral Home in Winooski.
ESSEX QUINN, Charles Conrad — Funeral services for Charles Conrad Quinn were held Monday, May 15, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. in St. James Episcopal Church, Essex Junction with the Rev. Peter D. MacLean officiating. Musical selections were provided by church organist, Carol Reichard. Special words of remembrance were shared with all attending by Chuck’s children; Shawn Quinn and Caren Ehler. Representatives were present from Green Mountain Power and Lincoln Inn Softballl Team. Interment followed on Tuesday, May 16, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. in the family lot in Oak Hill Cemetery, Bellows Falls. The Rev. Peggy Crane of Immanuel Episcopal Church, Bellows Falls offered Committal prayers. A reception followed at the family homestead in Bellows Falls. Bearers were; Shawn Quinn, Bob Quinn, Harry Nostrant, Gib Gay, Chris Poratti, and John Houghton. Arrangements were by John Workman of the Hayes-Rich Funeral Home, 1176 Main Street, Fairfax.
SOUTH BURLINGTON RAFOUL, Elizabeth Ann — A Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, May 15, 2000, at 10 am in the Chapel of St. Michael the Archangel at St. Michael’s College in Colchester with the Rev. Paul Couture, SSE as main celebrant and homilist. Concelebrating the Mass were the Rev. Richard Myhalyk, SSE Superior General, the Rev. Marcel Rainville, SSE, the Rev. Richard Vanderweel, SSE, the Rev. Raymond Doherty, SSE, the Rev. Josph McLaughlin, SSE, the Rev. Michael Cronogue, SSE, the Rev. David Theroux, SSE, the Rev. Richard Berube, SSE, the Rev. Msgr. John McSweeney, the Rev. Bernard Gaudreau and the Rev. Anthony Wieler, Maronite Order. Master of Ceremonies was the Rev. Brian Cummings, SSE. Present in the Sanctuary was the Most Rev. Kenneth A. Angell, Bishop of Burlington. The Cross Bearer was Debby Patterson. The Readings were proclaimed by Dena Camp and Rochelle Sassin. The Offertory Gifts were presented by Thomas Michaels and Timothy Altimari. Music was provided by Jerome Monachino. Words of Remembrance and the Final Blessing was offered by Bishop Angell. Attending were several faculty and staff of St. Michael’s College, Staff of The Bishop Brady Center, many relatives, friends and neighbors. Interment followed in Resurrection Park Cemetery in So. Burlington, with Father Couture reading Committal Prayers. Arrangements were by the Ready Funeral Home, South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Road, Burlington.
SWANTON ST. MARIE, Eugene Joseph — A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, May 15, 2000 at 11 a.m. in The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Celebrant and Homilist was Mr. St. Marie’s nephew, Father Peter Routhier, Pastor of Saint Monica Parish in Barre. Concelebrating was Father Leopold Bilodeau, Pastor of Saint Mary Star of the Sea Parish in Newport. Ministers of the Altar were Imelda and John Tougas. Nieces Marriette Guertin, Lucille Jacobs-Collins, Claire Currier and Frances Routhier placed the Pall on the casket. Frances Routhier also placed the crucifix on the casket and proclaimed the Old Testament Reading. Family friend Georgianna Adam proclaimed the New Testament Reading. Great nieces Deb Weinberg and Louise Guertin and nephew, Richard St. Marie presented offertory Gifts. Music was provided by organist and soloist, Claire Chevalier Hungerford. Among those in attendance were representatives from the Sisters of Mercy, Daughters of Charity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Daughters of the Holy Spirit, Parishioners of Saint Monica in Barre, Saint Stephen’s in Winooski, and Nativity in Swanton. Interment followed in the St. Marie family lot in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Swanton with Father Routhier assisted by Father Bilodeau reading the committal prayers. The bearers all members of the Knights of Columbus, Saint Edmund of Canterbury Council 7669 in Swanton were, Joseph Gamache, Romuald ”Pete” Morin, James Richard, Lawrence Beaulieu, Douglas Austin, and Bernard LaRocque. Full Military Honors accorded the deceased by members of the Vermont Army National Guard. The American Flag which draped the casket of retired Colonel St. Marie was folded by MSG. COLCHESTER — SOMERS, Edna M. — Graveside services for Edna M. Somers, wife of the late Carl H. Somers, will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at 10:30 a.m. in the Colchester Village Cemetery in Colchester. The Rev. Joel Stoddert will officiate. Arrangements are by the Lavigne Funeral Home, Winooski.
FAIRFAX — YOUNG, Theresa E. — A largely attended Mass of Christian Burial for Theresa E. Young was celebrated Wednesday, May 31, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Luke Church with Father John G. Feltz officiating, assisted by Deacon Steve Ratte and Eucharistic Minister James Groseclose. Liturgical Readings were presented by Henry Raymond. Special musical selections were provided by soloist and organist Mary Jo Gillilan, including; ""Do Not Be Afraid”, ""Because You Loved Me”, and ""How Beautiful Heaven Must Be”. Offeratory gifts were presented by granddaughters; Jennifer Lenihan, Jessica Young, Cherie Geddes, and granddaughter-in-law, Elizabeth Young. Representatives were present from I.B.M., Fairfax Rescue, L.W. Young Excavation, Burleson Concrete, Rainville Collision & Repair, Minors Country Store, Friendly Neighbors Senior Citizens, and Fairfax Town Offices. Interment followed in the family lot in St. Luke Cemetery with Father Feltz and Deacon Ratte offering committal prayers. A reception followed for family and friends at St. Luke Church Parish Hall – sponsored by the Ladies of the parish. Bearers were; Lawrence Young, Jr., Todd Young, Kevin Toof, David Toof, Ryan Zeno, Jeremy Zeno and James Young. Arrangements were by Hayes-Rich Funeral Home, 1176 Main Street, Fairfax.
